Yes, you read it right! This morning a box arrived via FedEx Express with four boxes of Gluten-Free Ring Tings from Shabtai Gourmet. Check them out at http://shabtai-gourmet.com.
When I opened the foam container (boxes were packed in a foam container with bubble wrap and dry ice), the smell of them was unbelievable! Then, I opened a box of them and my friend and I said, "Yup, they smell like Ding Dongs."
They are huge (compared to their gluten-filled counterpart). Another big difference is the taste - real cocoa, real cocoa butter, and chocolate liquer. You can TASTE the chocolate.
Due to being shipped from New York to Washington State, some of the chocolate had fallen off...oh, darn! It still ate yummy and we took turns eating the pieces in the box.
They were a little on the dry side, but for those of us that drink milk...well, it did the trick.
My husband was VERY surprised, to say the least. I don't think I've seen him that giddy in years.
They are well worth the cost and the wait to have them shipped cross-country.
The one gluten containing item that is still a REAL temptation have been Ding Dong's, and now I have a substitute! After she told me about the post I ran to the fridge and grabbed another box and opened them. Boy am I in trouble now...
